The title kind of explains everything. This problem not only happens with chrome, but every browser, and on other application that has a file browser. I’m currently on Ubuntu 14.04, and everytime I click on a “Choose File” file browser from google chrome, and use CTRL+WINDOWS+D to go to Desktop, when I come back to chrome, the browsers kind of freezes, caused by the Open File Dialog disappearing making it impossible to interact with the…"If I click on Choose File from google chrome and go to Desktop using Ctrl+Windows+D, the file browser disappears and browser freezes"

How can one identify, and remove, software which is installed on Ubuntu (14.04) which is non-Ubuntu software? I understand I need to do this so that my upgrade to 16.04 isn’t blocked. From various posts I have tried these to no avail. This returns nothing grep ppa /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/* This > ls /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ returns ros-latest.list ros-latest.list.distUpgrade ros-latest.list.save Is this what I need to remove? I have tried the following, but am clearly missing some knowledge.…"How to do identify non-Ubuntu software"

Is there any way to dual boot a raspberry pi 3 between snappy core and raspbian (or any other OS)? the installation instructions talk about dd’ing the ubuntu core image which I imagine will overwrite the partition table of the sd card"Dual boot Ubuntu snappy core + raspbian"
When I run Deja-dup for the first time, it makes a backup just fine. However, when I run it a couple of days later to do an update, I get the following error: Error splicing file: Input/output error This by itself was no help so I took the advice of several postings and ran it from the terminal shell as follows: DEJA_DUP_DEBUG=1 deja-dup –backup It repeatedly produced the following error: DUPLICITY: DEBUG 1 DUPLICITY: .…"Deja-dup splicing error on Ubuntu 17.04"
Now, I boot a berryboot installation and I can pass an ipv4=192.168.1.xx/255.255.255.0/192.168.1.x parameter to set the networking. However, I haven’t found a way to pass a dns parameter of say 188.8.131.52 during the boot in the cmdline.txt. p.s. – I know this sounds like a pi question but I feel like this is a debian/ubuntu kernel question."How do I pass dns parameters during boot"
Upon opening Civilization VI, it does not detect my graphics card, an Nvidia 820M, instead using my Intel graphics. (It also has a strange graphical glitch which renders much of the game as blue patches.) It did not find the card when I just had nouveau installed, nor did it find it when I installed nvidia-340 or nvidia-375. (I already have Secure Boot disabled.) I have tried installing various such drivers, none of which have…"Graphics card not showing on Civilization VI"
I just installed a fresh copy of Ubuntu 16.04 on a new server, replacing an older one where I used /etc/fstab to auto-mount several hard drives. However, when I mount via CLI mount or through /etc/fstab, I get an input/output error when trying to read the drives (ntfs-3g). If I mount with udisksctl, it works fine. I would prefer to mount from fstab to make it more predictable. I have been working on this for…"Can mount with udisksctl but not mount/fstab"
Hello I have recently got a new Aspire ES 15, which came with windows installed and I’m trying to install Ubuntu 17.04 from a USB, I choose to wipe my disk entirely and do a fresh install of Ubuntu. However when it finishes installing and I restart my computer it is like it never installed. Does anyone know how to fix this? My computer is running in UEFI with secure boot enabled and if I…"Ubuntu installs but wont boot?"
