Cops REFUSE to apologise for pointing loaded rifles at pyjama-clad children and forcing them to ground in daylight raid sparked by false tip-off

COPS have refused to apologise for dragging four youngsters out of their home at gunpoint – after a false tip-off.

The siblings aged 15, 16, 18 and 21 years old were ordered to lie in the road as armed police swooped on the property.

Their distraught mum hit out at the West Midlands force over their treatment of her children – but cops have refused to say sorry.

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: “During the deployment of firearms officers – following a report that a man was seen entering a house with guns – a fence was damaged.

“We will work with the homeowner to rectify this.

“The matter has not been referred to the IPCC. Police will not be issuing a formal apology.”

Dramatic footage captured armed police raiding the house in Birmingham before young suspects are led out at gunpoint on Monday afternoon.

Officers swooped on the property in Pretoria Road, Bordesley Green, at around midday.

A number of officers, police dogs and a force helicopter can clearly be seen in the video.

West Midlands Police later revealed they were acting on a tip-off, adding they were working with “good intent”.

The youngsters were lined up in the road covered by officers with machine-guns, forced to lie down and handcuffed.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, the mum said the incident “destroyed [her] and [her] family”.

She said she was stopped by police outside her home after a trip to the bank, when armed police swooped and led her kids into the street, before searching the house.

The mother, who asked not to be named, said her kids had been left devastated by the raid, adding she would be seeking legal advice about the incident.

She said: “They were absolutely petrified and hadn’t got a clue what was going on. To think they were led into the road like criminals breaks my heart.

“They are in shock at the moment and are receiving support from our wider family.

“The police broke the fence at the bottom of my garden, left my home a mess and haven’t even had the decency to apologise.”

The mum said she believes the call was “malicious”, but said she has “no idea” who could have made it.

An eyewitness told how he was driving along the busy road when police stopped traffic after the raid.

He said: “I was stuck for about 45 minutes so I just got out and started filming.

“The police led the kids out one by one. The youngest only looked about 11 or 12 and the oldest about 19.

“Some were still in their night clothes and some didn’t have any shoes or slippers on.”

The bystander, who said his name was Mohammed, claimed: “There were loads of people watching this and many were filming.

Eyewitness

“The police were still there after I left and so were the people – two were in one van and two in another.

It was also alleged that police detained a woman nearby.

A spokeswoman For West Midlands Police said: “Police were called to reports of a man believed to be carrying firearms in Pretoria Road, Bordesley Green, at around 10.50am.

“Officers and the police helicopter attended the scene but despite a thorough search no firearms were recovered and no arrests were made.

“Appears that a call was made with good intent.”
